Cobra '3 Track Demo' I haven’t done a demo review in quite some time but I actually had a demo come through today from a rapper / producer called Jacob Aldridge, who raps under the moniker Cobra. Cobra has been writing and recording for 4 or so years and is from Suffolk and this is his first proper 3 track demo. Now this isn’t too bad production wise, all three tracks are really mellow and have some nice live instrumentation and it all seems to be recorded pretty well, although maybe the engineer has gone a little too heavy on the vocal reverb on ‘When You Come Around’ the first track featured here. This track also features two singers one male, who I’m not feeling with his American styling’s and off key singing and a woman who isn’t bad and can keep a note. The raps from Cobra aren’t great, he keeps his Suffolk tones but has pretty basic wordplay and the lyrics are verging on cheesy. The other two tracks on offer ‘Let me Be With You’ and ‘You Can’ aren’t a whole heap better but as stated earlier the production is decent on all three joints, which just leaves me to say, keep at it Cobra I’ve heard a lot worse, there’s room for a lot of improvement lyrically but production wise you do seem to have quite an original vibe!
