Mack 10 from Inglewood, California really is one of the unsung heroes of the West Coast and with his tracks in the group Westside Connection helped to shape the sound of West Coast. His debut self-titled album ‘Mack 10’ in 1995 is one of favourite albums of all time, so I was real intrigued to hear ‘Soft White’, Mack’s ninth album. Only twelve tracks on this one, but they say quality over quantity and it’s a very well produced affair. ‘Big Balla’ featuring Glasses Malone & Birdman gets the album to a flying start, but it’s the massive single ‘So Sharp’ featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne & Jazze Pha produced by Don Vito that picked my ears up. Green Lantern turns up for production duties on the Akon & Red Café collaboration ‘Clack Clack’ and the C-Note produced track ‘Dedication’ is super tight too. Other guests include J. Holiday, Butch Cassidy and Anthony Hamilton, who really add a vibe to the whole album. It’s really good stuff and has some massive crossover tracks that make me wonder why on earth more radio stations aren’t backing it. Madness… if you like real shizzle then get up on this… Wesssssssiiiidddeeeeeeee!!!!!
